Betty Agnes Whipple Olean, NY Betty Agnes Whipple passed away at the age of 88 on September 22, 2015 at the Olean General Hospital, having resided at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean NY for approximately two years. Born July 12, 1927 in Shinglehouse, PA, the daughter of Richard Joseph Presher and Ruth A. Jackson and stepmother Ruth Morrison, Presher, Moses. On December 28, 1946 she married Walter Leon Whipple, who died on February 10, 2013. Betty had resided most of her life in Bolivar and was a graduate of Bolivar Central School in the class of 1945. For a period of time Betty lived in Hollywood, FL, and later returned to Bolivar and Olean, NY. Betty was an Awana teacher, a Sunday School Teacher and a church member for many years at the Richburg First Day Baptist Church. Her gift of teaching young children the “Word of God” was exemplary. She also spent many hours mentoring her nieces and nephews. Earlier in life, she enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, taking long walks, tending to animals, and sending out cards to let others know she cared. Her contagious smile and genuine sweetness will be remembered by many. Surviving are her son Walter Richard (Donna) Whipple of Bolivar, NY one grandson Andrew (Tiffany) Whipple of Olean, NY, one great granddaughter Emma Whipple of Olean NY, one sister Janet Herne of Bolivar NY, one half brother James (Marcia) Presher of Laconia NH and two half sisters Jeanne (Kerry) Nice of Dunedin, FL and Christeena (Kim) McNeil of Eldred, PA and several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband, two sisters Shirley Ruth (Dale) Conway of Painted Post NY, and Margie Doris (Louis) Colley of Bolivar, NY. A memorial service will be held October 3, 2015, at 2:00 pm at the Richburg First Day Baptist Church, Richburg NY. Pastor Larry Allen will officiate. Burial will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar, NY. Memorials may be made to the Richburg First Day Baptist Church, Richburg NY.
